Marketing the Emerging Speaker

Presented by Ted Janusz

Does this sound like you?: You listen to advice from “household”
names in the speaker business. Yet when many of them started in
the business, times were much different. For instance, back in
the late ‘70s, there were only a couple of hundred speakers in
the entire country. Today, you compete against thousands. In fact,
SpeakerMatch claims that today 31 out of 32 people who now try to
start a speaking business will fail.

Also, back when many well-known speakers were launching their
careers, there may have been more speaking opportunities, since
the country had not just emerged from the Great Recession. Only
now are many conventions and conferences, and training budgets
beginning to recover.

You may have heard that to emerge as a professional speaker you
first need to invest thousands of dollars in a speaker website,
a coach, a demo video, a one-sheet, a published book, and other
marketing materials. (To which a spouse, partner or significant
other may have inquired, “Oh, really?”)

For some refreshing and possibly contrarian advice, please join
us to hear professional speaker Ted Janusz discuss:

• How to become known as an expert by having articles placed in
industry publications . . . for FREE!
• An online resource you can access to get specific contact
information for association meeting planners and publication
editors . . . for FREE!
• How to get your book published . . . for FREE!
• Why the national seminar companies may be a good initial
fit for you. (Hint: by sending out several hundred million
brochures each year, they do the marketing for you.)

Date: March 21, 2015
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 12 noon; Bonus Session: 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Location: Sheraton Station Square, 300 W Station Square Dr,
Pittsburgh, PA 15219
Host: National Speakers Association, Pittsburgh Chapter
Cost: NSA Members & Affiliates-$45; Nonmembers-$55
(Includes networking lunch.)
RSVP: Suggested by March 18th
