Join the Philadelphia Anti-Trafficking Coalition for a workshop to help fight human

trafficking in our region. 

 

Over 200,000 children are at risk for sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation in the United States every year. Prevention of human trafficking among young people is crucial, but often difficult to address because of hesitancy around the graphic and emotional nature of the material.

 Join the Philadelphia Anti-Trafficking Coalition for a workshop to help fight human trafficking in our region.

The critically-acclaimed documentary on the Senegalese superstar:  Youssou N’Dour: I Bring What I Love will open the 2010 Film Festival honoring film icon Ousmane Sembène [pronounced OOSman simBEN] the ‘Father of African Cinema.’

 The two-day film festival opens Friday, November 12th, at Pitt’s Graduate School of Public Health Auditorium (G23 Parran Hall), Fifth Avenue at DeSoto Street in Oakland and runs through November 13th.  Festival hours for Friday, November 12th are 5:30 – 9:30 PM.  Hours for Saturday, November 13th are 12:30 – 4:30 PM. THE FESTIVAL IS FREE!!

UUCNH HOSTS “ARTS IN THE AUTUMN”

November 12th through November 14th

 

“Arts in the Autumn: a festival of visual and performing arts” returns to the Unitarian Universalist Church of the North Hills , 2359 W. Ingomar Rd.,Pittsburgh, PA 15237.  This high quality art exhibition is free to the public and offers docent tours featuring regional artists, a mobile flame demonstration, face painting, and several performances the weekend of November 12th through November 14th

Friday, November 12th, from 7 – 9 pm, the art festival kicks off with a “Meet the Artists” reception: an opportunity for networking between art lovers and the artists exhibiting.  View the art, ranging from paintings to sculpture, glass to jewelry, or photography to mixed media

Saturday, November 13th, the art exhibit will be open from 11 am to 10 pm.  Be a part of it!  Vote for your favorite piece.  Write your comments on some graffiti art.  Watch a bead making demonstration.  Get a group together for a docent tour.  Stop by the Grab and Go room and pick up a smaller item or two.  Watch a performance, or simply appreciate the art. 

Sunday, November 14th is your last chance to partake in the festivities.  Arts in the Autumn is open Sunday from 12:30 – 5 pm
